OUR CORE VALUES

GET TO KNOW DR. SKUJA

A woman with dark curly hair smiling, wearing a purple lace top, pearl earrings, and a pearl necklace.

Dr. Skuja (pronounced Skooya) is a board certified pediatric dentist passionate about making each child’s experience in the dental chair fun, engaging, and best suited to their individual needs.

Born in Libya and raised in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Skuja has always had a passion for medicine. Spending her summers in the United States as a child, she eventually moved here permanently for college, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Iowa.

Dr. Skuja then went on to earn her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. She completed her General Practice Residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA, and received her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Skuja enjoyed traveling to different states with her family as her husband pursued career opportunities. This travel exposed her to work experiences in various dental settings: private practice, large corporate offices, and federally qualified medical centers. Seeing this variety of dental environments made Dr. Skuja all the more passionate about creating her own positive, encouraging practice where she could deliver the highest quality care to her patients.

Recently, Dr. Skuja engaged with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in a leadership position and is actively pursuing involvement with her state chapter’s pediatric dental academy. Dr. Skuja has always maintained privileges at the local pediatric hospitals as this has allowed her to provide services to children with special healthcare needs and those who may be medically compromised.

Dr. Skuja is married with two children and enjoys spending time with family and friends during her spare time. Dr. Skuja also enjoys cooking and trying new recipes and has recently taken up gardening. When she gets that rare and elusive moment of alone time, she can be found at the arboretum or her city’s local museum.

WHAT TO EXPECT

At your child’s first visit we’ll introduce you to Dr. Skuja and our staff, give you a brief tour of our office, and start your child’s exam! We like to get to know each of our families and what their child’s individual preferences, needs, and goals may be. We prioritize communication, compassion, and positivity—even a bit of playfulness—to help you and your child have the most successful appointments possible.

A Dental Office Designed for Kids

We use technology that enhances the patient experience, from digital records and an electronic portal for communication to our state-of-the-art tools that help us deliver minimally invasive treatments and keep your child comfortable. We also aim to create a soothing environment with Montessori-style learning activities in our waiting room that facilitate calm, independent play.

CONVENIENT LOCATION

We're conveniently located near the heart of Malvern in Uptown Worthington retail center. With plenty of parking and generous walkways, you can schedule your appointments while on a visit to Wegmans, Target, or the upcoming Nemours medical center.

MONTESSORI-STYLE PLAY AREA

While we utilize top-of-the-line dental technology in our exam rooms, we prefer to keep our waiting room tech free. Montessori play is a wonderful way to enhance development in children by fostering imagination, emotional strength, and cognitive skills.

TVS IN OPERATORIES

We know that a little distraction can go a long way during a dental exam. We provide TVs in the dental operatories for entertainment and as a distraction tool giving our patients diversion during a demanding procedure.

Little Bear Pediatric Dentistry is proud to give back to the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, an umbrella group which includes several troops that cater to different age ranges. Dr. Skuja has seen the difference the Girl Scouts have made in her own daughter’s life and is inspired by their mission to help girls “grow courageous and strong through a wide variety of enriching experiences, such as field trips, skill-building sports clinics, community service projects, cultural exchanges, and environmental stewardships.”
